Acton Celebrates the Arts
The Acton BIA is declaring June 1 – 19 “Celebrate The Arts” in downtown Acton. We are looking for local artists to display their artwork in downtown store windows starting Tueday, June 1 with the grand finale being our “Taste of Acton” on Saturday, June 19 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. If you are interested in participating in our “Celebrate The Arts” please contact the Acton BIA office at 519-853-9555 or e-mail actonbia@cogeco.net.
June 17 –Acton Farmers’ Market – “Where Fresh Meets Family” official opening. At 3:00 p.m. come join the celebration! Our market will be every Thursday from June 17 to October 7, on Willow St S. between Mill and Church St. from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. Feast on the freshness from local farms, artisans and retailers offering fresh organic produce, natural health products, wood carving, pottery and so much more. June 18 – 20 First Annual Big Daddy Festival! Acton events include:
June 19 – “Taste of Acton” passports will go on sale Tuesday, June 1 and if you purchase your passport before June 19 the cost will be $12 per passport and you will be able to visit 5 participating restaurants. Passports purchased on Saturday, June 19 will cost $15. Passports are available at the Acton BIA office at 16 Mill St. E. please call 519-853-9555 to reserve yours today! Passports will also be available at Acton Optical, 4 Mill St. E. 519-853-5133 and Starlite Café, 35 Mill St. E. 519-853-8931. A portion of each ticket sold will go towards the Acton Soccer Association so get your ticket today and help support our local youth initiatives. June 19 – Dad & Me Karaoke in the Park – Prospect Park 3 – 8 p.m. Come and sing your favourite tunes with Dad
June 19 – Movies in the Park with Party Cinemas – Prospect Park in Acton at dusk, bring your lawn chair and enjoy a night under the stars watching a favourite movie with Dad and the entire family! Refreshments will be available.

July 1 – Come and celebrate Canada Day at Prospect Park in Acton! Concert in the Park 6:00 p.m. until dusk at the Rotary Bandshell in Prospect Park followed by fireworks sponsored by the Acton Fire Fighters Association. Activities include a bicycle parade for kids from 5 – 12, decorate your bike in red and white to celebrate Canada and you could win a prize! Local entertainment provided by: 2009 Acton Idol Winner – Kelsey Kirkpatrick, Robert Little Everybody Dance Club, Jay Force Acton Baptist Church Youth Choir, Leanne Marie Pettitt School of Highland Dance and lots more for the family to enjoy! August 8 – 19th annual Leathertown Festival – Explore the Magic of Mardi Gras! Lots of fun, food and entertainment for the whole family! Come and enjoy 6 blocks of activities for your enjoyment. Visit the kids zone and be entertained by Freddie Fusion, Fun First Climbing, and face painting to name a few. Take a stroll down “Bourbon Street” and stop at one of the many restaurant outdoor patios for a refreshment. Our main stage headliner is The Happy Pals a New Orleans style jazz band and Mark Crocker – world famous ventriloquist. The entertainment doesn’t stop there come see Silver Elvis, Cobbler Jay and Anderson Entertainment – the strolling riverboat show. Need more information?
